Introduction

Hi, my name is Robin. I grew up living out of town and playing more with horses than I ever did with children my own age. My life was full of the fun and chaos that nurtures childhood growth and development but it was not without challenges and heartbreak. My personal experiences gave me the ability to relate to others through a strong empathetic connection. I realized then that I needed to hone this ability not only for my own sanity but to help others on their path to well-being.

My lifelong love of horses and interest in psychology and counselling brought me to a convergence point. Horses were my support and sanctuary when life was hard and they were my inspiration and dreams when the possibilities of life were endless. They nourished my heart and spirit with non-judgmental acceptance and positive regard. Horses taught me the intricacies of relationships and how delicate the balance is between respect, trust, communication, and boundaries.

I began my education here in Kamloops. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Thompson Rivers University, I have a double major in psychology and sociology. My next step was at Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona. I graduated with a Master of Science in Counselling specializing in Clinical Mental Health with a concentration in Equine Assisted Mental Health.

I have had many experiences before, during, and after my education. I have lived in the U.K. and travelled within the U.K. and to Europe. At Prescott College taught an undergraduate class in Relational Horsemanship. I have worked at an all boys ranch for boys ages 13-18 with oppositional defiance and conduct disorders, I helped teach them about horses. I have also helped run a small camp for teens with anxiety. While I was growing up I was a member of 4-H for 7 years and in high school I competed in rodeos. I still enjoy competing in amateur barrel racing, and my favourite past-time is going on a long, relaxing trail ride.

Horses are the passion that I always return to. They provide a caring and safe environment for humans to heal, explore, and move forward in life. With the help of their gentle and intuitive understanding we can make thoughtful and intentional changes.
